Youth Self Defense: Power Katz Program

 

Self Defense Classes for Boys and Girls ages 5-15

 

Join this fun self defense course that teaches no bullying tactics, that teaches kids proper techniques to defend oneself, along with working  on balance, flexibility and physical development for coordination.

Classes are 55 Minutes in length and run on Monday Nights, based on experience and age:   

 

   5-8 years of age 5pm     9-12 years of age 6pm      13-15 years of age 7pm

 

Poquoson Elementary Gym From 5pm-7:30pm    Initial Registration fee is $6 

 

 Every class you attend is only $6.  Pay as you attend class. 

 

 All classes at Poquoson Elementary Gym

No uniform required. Program is progressive, and emphasizes Safety, Self Respect, Discipline, and Confidence and Character.

    Intro to Golf Class Ages 7 –14 Boys and Girls.

 

Saturday, July 26    11:45– 2:45pm  Meet the van at Parks and Recreation to take this class with the golfing staff at Kiln Creek Golf Course. During the class you’ll get fitted for clubs, learn the basics from the driving range, how to chip and putt and other basics of the game. Take this intro session to see if you want to take up the game of golf. Be sure to bring a water bottle, and clubs if you have them. Cost is $30 per child and includes transportation and club usage. Min is 6. Max is 12. Deadline to register is April 18.

 

 

 

YOUTH SOCCER Fall Season. Registration will not open until July 1, 2008

Registration for Parks and Recreation Fall Youth Soccer League opens July 1, 2008. All teams are co-ed. Please note that

children must at least be currently enrolled to attend Fall 2008 kindergarten to be eligible for the League. Children not attending

Kindergarten are not eligible to play. All coaches are volunteers and are usually parents.

Cost to Play is $49.00. Registration is due AUGUST 15, 2008 Additional $10.00 for non-residents. $5 sibling discount.

The league will be divided as follows:

U9 ages 7 and 8 not yet age 9 by December 31, 2008

U11 ages 9 and 10 not yet age 11 by December 31, 2008

U13 ages 11 and 12 not yet age 13 by December 31, 2008

U16 ages 13, 14, 15 not yet age 16 by December 31, 2008

New This Season

U19 ages 16, 17, 18, not yet age 19 by December 31, 2008 * in house league of 7 on 7.

Registration is taken on a first come, first served basis. All registrations are numbered as they are received. The only guarantee for children to play is for parents to coach. A late fee will be charged for children registered after the deadline. A waitlist will be taken after the deadline. There is no guarantee for placement after the deadline or from the waitlist. As always, no guarantee can be made for particular age divisions to be held as it is all pending the turn out for registration. If enough children to hold a division do not register money will be returned. Absolutely no special requests for team placement, coaching assignment or carpools will be accepted. Siblings only will be placed together when the age group is the same.

 

Kickstart Soccer 4 year old players co-ed

Must be age 4 by December 31, 2008

Kickstart is a program designed for the soccer beginner. This is the basic introduction to the

game of soccer. It is not a soccer league, but a 4 week instruction and play period for 45 minutes

each week. Players will work within preschool fun to learn colors, numbers and playing

games while teaching basic soccer skills.Cost is $34.00 per child. No sibling discount; additional $10.00 for non-residents. Registration

is taken on a first come first served basis. One session is planned, and an additional session

will be expanded if necessary. 4 Saturdays: September 20, 27, October 4, 11, from 11:00-11:45am. Deadline to register is September

4. Cost includes beginner ball and tshirt. Program location is at Phillips Park soccer

fields in front of Poquoson High School. Note: 11-12 session is open to first 20 registrants.
